Jackson-Madison County General Hospital Opens Milk Drop Depot

JACKSON, TN – (August 20, 2024) – Jackson-Madison County General Hospital is excited to welcome a new milk drop depot by the Mothers’ Milk Bank of Tennessee.

Mothers’ Milk Bank of Tennessee is a non-profit organization that provides safe, pasteurized donor human milk (PDHM) to those babies who are most vulnerable.

The life-saving nutrition from PDHM will improve outcomes for babies born prematurely or with medical conditions.

With this new milk drop depot, registered donors can donate excess breast milk here in Jackson, TN without having to drive to Nashville or Memphis.

The life-saving nutrition improves outcomes for preterm and critical infants with every ounce.

The new depot also does the important job of raising awareness.

“The more it gets talked about, the more the word spreads, the more donors we get, the more milk we have, and the more babies we save long term,” said Tracey McMahon, state depot director for Mothers’ Milk Bank of Tennessee.
