Imaging Services

When you need a medical scan, whether an X-ray or ultrasound, having convenient services close to home makes a difference. West Tennessee Imaging provides a full scope of outpatient imaging services in an easy-to-access setting.

Imaging Close to Home

When you need an imaging scan, such as an X-ray or an ultrasound, being able to have it done close to home makes a difference. West Tennessee Healthcare provides a full spectrum of imaging services in a number of convenient locations across our area.

Why Convenient Access to Imaging Services Matters

When you’re experiencing symptoms of an illness or have an injury, your medical provider can ask you about your symptoms and do a physical examination. Many symptoms, though, are hidden inside—and your provider can’t see inside your body with the human eye.

With the help of imaging scans, however, we can take a peek inside the body. Using a variety of imaging tools, we’re able to visualize the body’s organs, bones, tissues, joints, tendons, and blood vessels. This helps our providers diagnose medical conditions and determine how to treat them most effectively.

Imaging scans are also used as screening tools. Mammograms, for example, are used to regularly examine breast tissue for abnormalities, while low-dose CT scans can be used to look for suspicious lung nodules in those at risk of lung cancer.

The Imaging Services We Offer

While all types of imaging scans capture images of what’s inside the body, they do so in different ways. Because of that, one imaging scan might be better than another when it comes to what your provider is diagnosing.

At West Tennessee Healthcare, we provide a full spectrum of imaging services, including:

  • Bone density testing (DEXA scans)
  • Computed tomography (CT) scans
  • Diagnostic mammography
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  • MRI-guided breast biopsies
  • Positron emission tomography (PET)/CT scans
  • Screening mammography
  • Stereotactic breast biopsy
  • Ultrasound
  • Ultrasound-guided breast biopsy
  • X-ray

In addition to providing imaging services, our imaging centers also offer convenient access to a laboratory and to some services to diagnose and treat heart health issues, such cardiac catheterization and electrocardiograms (EKGs).

If one of our facilities doesn’t offer the imaging service you need, you can be quickly and easily referred to another West Tennessee Healthcare imaging center that has what you need.

West Tennessee’s First Choice for Imaging Services

When your medical provider recommends an imaging scan, you don’t have to travel far to get it done. West Tennessee Healthcare facilities offer easy access to a full range of the most advanced imaging services. What sets us apart?

  • All of our facilities are staffed by board-certified radiologists and certified technicians with specialized training in imaging services.
  • Our facilities exclusively use digital imaging equipment, which provides detailed, precise images.
  • Two of our facilities are accredited by the American College of Radiology as a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence.
  • West Tennessee Healthcare offers imaging services across west Tennessee, with outpatient imaging at each of our community hospitals.
  • West Tennessee Imaging Center, located across from Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, is designated as a Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center, with individual accreditation in stereotactic breast biopsy, breast MRI, breast ultrasound, and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.

We also use an advanced picture archiving and communication system (PACS) to store and maintain images and imaging reports. This makes it easy for your medical providers to access this information when making a diagnosis or creating a treatment plan.

CT Scans, MRIs, and X-rays, Oh My! Making Sense of Imaging

Computed tomography (CT) scans, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and X-rays are all diagnostic tools that allow doctors to see the internal structures of the body. These imaging tests are generally non-invasive, painless, and relatively quick. However, diagnostic imaging tests are...
