The Foundation announced its Community Impact Grant recipients for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. A total of $40,500.00 was awarded to nine organizations who will utilize the funds for community initiatives in areas such as education, healthcare, and the arts.
“We care about those in our community,” said Frank McMeen, President of The Foundation. “and we are proud of the way this program has grown to change the lives in Madison County.”
The Foundation awarded Community Impact Grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 to the following organizations: A Step Ahead of West Tennessee, Arise2Read Jackson, Behavioral Health Initiatives, Boys and Girls Club of Jackson, Jackson-Madison County Library, The Jackson Symphony, Madison Haywood Developmental Services, Regional Inter-Faith Association (RIFA), and Scarlet Rope Project.
“Community Impact Grants allow The Foundation to partner with organizations who are doing work that creates lasting change toward the health and well-being of the community,” said Beth Koffman, Vice President of Operations of The Foundation.
Each group awarded is a fund of The Foundation or a 501(c)(3) organization that serves Madison County. Last year, The Foundation granted $29,594.00 that was directly used for community initiatives. The Foundation awarded the first Community Impact Grants in 2017 and has granted over $100,000.00 since the inception.
“This year, we increased the maximum amount organizations can request from $2,500 to $5,000,” said Stephanie Fowler, Chief Financial Officer of The Foundation. “Increasing the amount allows us to help more organizations to put more money directly into the community.”
The Foundation began in 1984 and is a community foundation that operates in conjunction with West Tennessee Healthcare. The Foundation serves as the fundraising arm for cancer care, therapy for special needs children and a myriad of other health related causes that impact the people of Jackson and West Tennessee. The Foundation has grown to become the leading community effort for more than 500,000 people through over 500 charitable interests.
