Annual Donate Life Flag Ceremony Honors and Encourages Community Awareness

West Tennessee Healthcare and Tennessee Donor Services will host the annual Donate Life Flag Raising Ceremony to honor organ and tissue donors, recipients and their families.

The flag raising ceremony will held on Thursday, April 11, 2:00, at the south entrance on Forest Avenue at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital (JMCGH) located at 620 Skyline Drive in Jackson.  A reception will be held in the Medical Founders Room A & B immediately following the flag raising ceremony. This year’s reception will feature guest speaker Michael Gregory, RN at JMCGH. Michael is currently a Registered Nurse at JMCGH and received his second heart transplant in December 2018.

According to James Ross, President and CEO of West Tennessee Healthcare, “The need is greater than ever. We know that organ donation transforms and saves lives. That’s why it is so important to register to become an organ donor. I encourage families to let their loved ones’ lives carry on through the special gift of organ donation.”

Donate Life Month, the national observance in April, commemorates donors and their loved ones and those impacted by the gift of donation. The annual observance is also an opportunity to build awareness in the community about donation and the importance of donor registry.
